We spend Christmas Eve with my mom and her family. We usually sit with Santa (he visits for the little kids and always walks in the house to Bruce Springsteen's "Santa Claus is Coming to Town"), eat a big dinner that consists of pasta and the "7 fish" (an Italian tradition, although I am a vegan so I do not eat the fish), exchange presents and then watch a Christmas movie before bed. We wake up at my mom's house and then go to my dad's house. We exchange presents in the morning, ride bikes to my uncle's house down the street, and then enjoy a laid-back dinner with my dad's side of the family at my house. My dad always makes his famous oatmeal-raisin cookies that everyone gobbles up.

Ever since I have been in a relationship with my boyfriend, I make time to go to his house with his family in the morning after biking to my uncle's house. We usually have brunch and spend time with the 3 toddlers in his family. It is very fun to watch them play with their new toys!

This year, and in the years to come, I hope to make new holiday traditions in my new home.

As you can tell, I celebrate Christmas. On another night we go to my moms parents to celebrate just like when we are at my other grandparents house. Gifts, songs, and a big feast. On the other nights, me and my family stay home, eat a home cooked meal by me and my mom, and we light candles, eat, and share gifts with one another.but I don't have any tradition from my culture. we just do our own thing. Hanukkah to me is the highlight of the year.
