Our work as coaches is tricky as our product is student learning (not plastic). So much of what we do revolves around building trust and relationships with our teachers so they are willing to take risks. Anytime we ask someone to do something different it is a risk to them. The struggle is taking the first step and what works for one, doesn't work for another.

During my ECHO study, I asked for support to help a teacher build relationships with students. The teacher has started dialogue journals with students, is trying the 2 x 10 strategy, and is working to diffuse power struggles. I appreciated all of the advice offered and it has been helpful.

Relationships with teachers help us build capacity. It is hard to provide with purposeful feedback. We are able to have those critical conversations with teachers when we have the relationship built.

It's hard when there are several teachers through out grade levels that need support and there is only one IC.

Cohort Groups

I have really enjoyed the cohort groups we have now. This provides a place for us to share ideas and ask questions - even outside of the ECHO groups. Our cohort group has been so supportive of each other, and I appreciate it being a safe space.
