The Miller and Schulz article was about near exactly what I described, that being a development of a new teaching strategy to aid in the learning of literacy for all students, specifically so that all could learn at close to the same pace. However, where I was wrong was that the “basic set of literacies” mentioned in the article when I first skimmed through it was something I assumed to be closer to the more intellectual idea of “classic literary works”, like Charles Dickens’ books or Greek stories. The focus was instead on a general proficiency in many literary sections, allowing students to “participate in the university system” with more ease. I think the reason why my prediction was so accurate definitely had to do with the fact that I skimmed over the article and payed more attention to the sub headings. Because of how well labeled the sub headings were, they gave me a good idea of what the article was about.
