This has further confirmed the reason why I need to get back on Twitter. I used to participate in Twitter book chats in my previous school district and thought they were not only beneficial, but exciting as well. It definitely helped spark passion and feel connected!

Change is guaranteed to happen, but some people resist it and stay stagnant in their lives. Other people let it help them grow and learn new things. I think of my dad when I read this quote - he is very hesitant to try new things, even when society tries to steer him in that direction. For example, my mom, sisters, and I have all succumbed to the power of the iPhone yet my dad is perfectly complacent with his old flip phone. Ironically enough, he does rely on my mom's phone for directions and to take photos and to check up on what me and/or my sisters are doing, but he is reluctant to get one himself - whether from anxiety about learning something new or stubbornness to see the value in something different, I don't know. He grumbles at the TV when KSDK suggests that you "download [their] app for more information" and oftentimes muses out loud, "why do I gotta download an app? Why can't you just do your job and report the news?" He refuses to see that apps can help him grow as a human and offer him new experiences and opportunities and information. He is choosing not to grow.

Educators can seek out opportunities to grow by attending different types of professional development, reading books on education, attending lectures, watching TED Talks, participating in book studies, observing co-workers, asking for feedback from admin/students/parents, participating in difficult discussions that may push them outside their comfort zone, submersing themselves in a new culture, traveling, adopting a new hobby, learning from their students, consuming news from all types of sources, connecting with other educators on social media, furthering their own education by enrolling in master's level or doctoral programs, reading articles on education, hosting or participating in a genius hour, reflecting, organizing field trips, listening to podcasts on education, and the list goes on.

I think this quote means that sometimes we experience "bad weather" (or change in disguise!) and if we embrace it and try to reframe our thinking we can accept that it may make us grow to be better or stronger.

The rising popularity of AI reminds me of how quickly TikTok took off...it's not going anywhere so I guess it's time to embrace it and learn more about it! As educators, we have to acknowledge that our students have already or will use AI in some shape or form. What do we do with that information?

Multiple teachers observe one another and give meaningful feedback after the lesson to take back to their classrooms.

I love this and that it actually demonstrates what the website above suggests when it says to "join or start an Observe Me group on your campus to learn with your colleagues."
