You are a group of farmers who believe that you will suffer ECONOMICALLY if farmers throughout India are allowed to grow GM crops.  You are worried that to compete economically you will have to grow GM crops and you are concerned about the toll it will take on the ENVIRONMENT of your farm.  You worry that crops that grow so quickly will overtax your limited water supply and will strip the soil of nutrients.  You are also worry about creating “super-pests” that are Bt resistant.

What should our presentation look like? Each group will be given approximately 7 minutes of floor time. 

(3 minute presentation and 4 minute question session)

1. Opening statement. Clearly lay out your group’s point of view. Remember to try to stay within context of the assigned argument focus (the words in CAPS).

2. Establish 3-4 main points. Using visual aids to support these points is important, but remember they are just aids and should not contain everything you plan to say.

3. Conclude your argument. Your group will need a way to sum up your group’s point of view effectively before fielding questions from the audience.
