         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong><em>Record your initial thoughts and feelings about the course and this task.</em></strong><br><br>This being my very first year at University, I do feel slightly overwhelmed this week in general, but I am really excited to begin working on developing a Promo Video and Website on something I value.<br><br>I am a regular user of Digital Media and I am looking forward to developing my knowledge, understanding and skill set and then applying these new skills and experience to my life in general and in my career.<br><br>I feel I have a lot to learn and look forward to the weeks ahead learning how to plan and shoot a promo video whilst also learning how to develop a website! <br><br>Very exciting!<br><br>My very first thoughts regarding what I would like my promo video to be about include either of the following:<br><br><strong>Anxiety and Coping Strategies when Feeling Overwhelmed: </strong><br>I have had personal experience regarding this topic and feel I could help others with identifying what anxiety is and ways to cope with it and getting help to overcome it. Getting people to live in the moment rather than in the past or the future.<br><br>OR<br><br><strong>Bullying:</strong><br>I have school aged children and bullying is something that happens daily in all children's lives in one way or another. But I also feel bullying is not just within the school grounds and want people in general to really THINK ABOUT what they say and how they behave and thus how that effects others.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong><em>Summerise your message you wish to promote, identify your target audience and begin researching your message.<br><br></em></strong>This week I am really still thinking about what I would like to promote in my video. I feel I have two strong topics I am interested in promoting, but really want to create something unique and relevant.<br><br>I began researching the the two topics I was considering promoting using google. I wanted to see what kind of promotional videos were out there and how they were constructed considering I have never done this before.<br><br>I found that the Anxiety videos I found were covering the topic of anxiety well whilst also including coping strategies so I felt there wasn't really any way to re-create a unique message or a much room for creativity that hadn't already been thought of or designed regarding this topic.<br><br>This is how I decided that I would focus my promo video on Bullying. I noticed through searching for videos regarding bullying that there are a lot of school-related  videos and imagery and I felt particularly moved by teen suicide related to bullying. <br><br>In my video however I think I want those watching to understand that bullying happens daily in all ages and situations. Maybe if more people considered what they say and how they behave society can evolve away from bullying and lead by example for our children to follow.<br><br>I also considered at this point directing the attention of my bullying video towards enhancing the penalties for bullies that choose not to modify their destructive behaviors - "Consequences of Being a Bully"<br><br>I decided at this point that I would want to try to reach as many age groups as I can with my video but was very unsure of how to do so effectively. I would need to consider how I would engage the viewer and keep them watching and interested, whilst also wanting to make people think even after the video concluded. I want to HELP others!<br><br>We also learned this week about Harvard referencing and my initial thoughts were that the process was quite overwhelming and I am concerned that I need to really understand how to correctly reference sources I use. I have never used this referencing prior but I am glad I am being taught how so I can find this less overwhelming in future.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><br>This week I was unfortunately absent from class due to illness but continued my studies from home.<br><br>HTML was covered this week, and I initially feel overwhelmed because I have absolutely NO PRIOR EXPERIENCE with HTML.<br><br>One of the first things I did before completing this task was obviously go through the notes from class and watch the tutorial. Then I decided to head over to CodeAcadamy to give that a go before taking on the actual task as I wanted to be sure (as i was absent) that I had my head around HTML and how everything worked.<br><br>After confidently completing all levels of the tutorial, I began working on my own website. By not having an apple computer at home I tried to complete the task in class time, but was not able to till several weeks later (part time student at Uni only 1 day per week) In class time, I was focused on that days specific teachings and did not have enough time to complete it till around week 5-6.<br><br>I believe I have established a clear understanding of HTML and how to create the structure of a webpage which I have never done prior. I cant wait to see how my website develops as I integrate not only my video but my colour scheme and typography!</div>]]></description>

These sources should be recorded as an Annotated Bibliography in your Journal.</em></strong><br><br>After many brainstorming sessions and a lot of reading and research regarding bullying this week I feel I truly defined my message: <br><br>" <strong>#areyouabully "<br>THINK ABOUT IT</strong><br><br>Bullying is quite a broad topic covering so many situations and age groups and I found it hard to <strong><em>UNIQUELY </em></strong>define/contain/promote any particular message effectively within the 30 second video time frame.<br><br>I used my Padlet to brainstorm ideas and keep all my thoughts in one place without having a truly defining direction. <br><br>After discussing my Padlet with Mr Longo in class, he noticed a particular hashtag I had recorded amongst my ideas and provided me with positive and re-enforcing feedback and this is how my idea came to fruition.<br><br>I would now need to think specifically how I would promote this #areyouabully visually. I wanted people to realise that even in words they may commonly use everyday they could be bullying someone and that everyone should think about what they say before they say it. <br><br>I researched again using google to broadened my understanding of bullies use of vocabulary and in turn came up with the phrases that would feature in my video.<strong><em><br><br></em></strong>In class we were shown how helpful creating a "Mind Map" is regarding our chosen topic. It will help expand your thinking about your topic and you may discover things you had not thought of previously.          <description><![CDATA[<div><strong><em>Focus on defining your brand by considering the visual style, fonts and colour palette for your promotional video. Consider these carefully </em></strong>&nbsp;<strong><em>because the decisions you make will also affect the website.</em></strong><br><br>I have thought about the tone/colour of my video since I began planning. I really want the video to have a somber and serious feel to it so at this stage I am considering presenting the video in black and white.<br><br>To bring focus to my message perhaps the only typography that will be presented in colour (red I am thinking) will be the hashtag #areyouabully. This will bring the viewers attention straight to the point of my promo video within seconds of the video beginning and hopefully ponder if by watching on or not pressing skip they can answer that very question for themselves.<br><br>As for typography I am possibly going to be incorporating headlines and images with some quite serious themes including teen suicide as a result of bullying so I want a serious, perhaps "all capital" typeface/font - the same font will carry through to the conclusion of the video and also be used in the design of my website.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>This week I took time to go over my work on HTML. I still did not complete my HTML editing required for the assignment but I spent time going over what I had learned and making sure I had all the content I needed to complete my website section before the due date!<br><br>Also today I got so speak to Mr Longo regarding my padlet and show him where everything was at. We were able to re-define again my imagery for this video and after todays class i feel I have cemented what I want to achieve visually.<br><br>I am really looking forward now to completing Assignment 1 but then also moving onto shooting and post production of my #areyouabully 30 promo ad!<br><br>I feel at this stage, the quicker I get to shooting and post/production editing - the quicker I will know for sure what elements ideas and designs will work best together!<br><br>I find it really amazing how my feelings have changed over the course of this project. I have gone from thinking up an idea to now feeling so passionate about the entire project and its outcome!&nbsp;<br><br>Creating your own ideas and messages and videos and websites etc its really personal and I feel like the outcome of it all really matters! Its an expression of me! It's not just schoolwork!</div>]]></description>

It also helped me understand things like how and why people bully others. When researching videos online most videos I found portray bullying to be issues related to children and young adults when in actual fact it is much more widespread and multifaceted and effects all humans. <br><br>The fact is that everyone at some stage in life has knowingly or unknowingly bullied another. My aim is to get viewers to realise that even the most common phrases are considered bullying and to think before they speak and thus in turn helping one less person becoming the direct or indirect victim of bullying. <br><br>This would be the most unique part of my video -that its not just the obviously nasty verbal communication others associate with bullying - its the subtle words and phrases that may not generally considered as bullying.</div>]]></description>

Their names ages, locations and profession also incorporated into the images as well the words "bullied to death" after these images my hashtag #areyouabully will appear - all of this presented to the sound of my audio - Stop the World.<br><br>Next, visually you will then see a still image - that of a typical scenario of a person being spoken down to (in an office, in a relationship, in a school) - you will hear two people talking (related to the  situation the image portrays) and one will be bullying the other (casually or indirect) using one of the three of my chosen statements, and the victim will reply in a manner such as "sighing" "oh" or with other negative obvious emotion (x3). <br><br>The conclusion will be a powerful visual statement "<strong>Suicide</strong> is the third leading <strong>cause</strong> of <strong>death</strong> among young people, resulting in about 4,400 <strong>deaths</strong> per year, according to the CDC. ... I feel I have edited my website in a general manner but need to be more descriptive about the message I am trying to relay. I want the viewer to both understand how the website came about (how the content is presented currently) but also I want direct information about the message of my video (how it relates to bullying, an explanation of how little known words and phrases  are a contribute to bullying etc) and links to more information as well as maybe about the victims in my videos or links to establish that bullying starts with how you speak in every situation. I will edit my website in detail once I have started the creation of my video so I am sure I know exactly what info is in the video and then sourcing and making available all the correct information on the web page.</div>]]></description>
