If you grew up in Australia, do you feel that emotions should be expressed as felt, or that you shouldn't always express your emotions? If you grew up in another country, does its homogeneity or heterogeneity rating relate to your own views about emotional expression>

has quite an emotionally expressive country. However, I believe that it is
generally understood that there is a level of expressive appropriation relating
to various levels of emotions or different situations.

I think in Australia even though we are heterogenous i think there comes a kind of respectability from those that are perceived as stoic. There's that image of the Australian male, lacontic, macho. That was ideal and I think that character still is respected whereas in somewhere like the States it might be perceived as boring, dull or unintelligent. Whereas Australians may perceive the American as loud, obnoxious, attention seeking, over the top. So yeah I think we play it down here in Australia. And like the video a few slides ago I think we aren't that comfortable with sharing emotions that aren't joy/happiness.

i believe that in Australia emotions are expressed more often compared to the country i was born in but it also depends on you and who you hang out with and how your community views emotions

Gender is not touched on enough. Sex means nothing to our emotional expression but gender and how we are gendered means everything.
