Me and my colleagues went on the rooftops of our office building which is right next to the Phaneromeni square to do an introductory lesson on "how to fly a drone". We need to use a mini drone to take aerial photographs for the purposes of our work. It was interesting as the buildings around as well as their rooftops were somehow stuck in time, just right next to the Green Line, but we were flying our drone feeling a bit futuristic and modern!

Visited the Home for Cooperation for a rooftop mini concert, a chilled atmosphere with people sitting wherever they could find, enjoying the music and the space. when i visited the rooftop at SPEL gallery, i loved looking at the old city from above where the streets would blend together, the green line would disappear and the peaks of mosques, palm trees and house tips would appear.

My adventure begins at the abandoned giorkio hotel, where my mission was to explore the hotel and the goal of the whole expirience to admire the view off of the rooftop. I wasnt expecting to be so fascinated by observing the pool and in a way reliving a forgotten enjoyment of the guests of the hotel and the great parties they might had hosted. Then observing the murals of the present time written on the walls while simultaneously observing my city from a whole different perspective. A very intense situation where the past and the present were mixed and expressed on a rooftop of an m abandoned hotel

A conceptual activity called “Gardens against Rage”, the local community was invited to release and transform their anger, using green trimmings and flowers from gardens and parks on both sides of Nicosia which Maidie was collecting throughout her residency. In times of unjust war and division, capitalist geopolitics, climate change, inequality, racism and other worldly problems Maidie encouraged the participants to channel their strong emotions and get rid of their anger in a healthy way; by hammering their rage -and their unspoken emotions- about these issues, on these plant materials, carefully placed between fabric banners.

Iacovos Loizou ran a creative workshop, during the Pame Kaimakli festival 2022: Urban Playground, providing visitors the opportunity to join the artist’s canvas to co-create an art piece inspired by Kaimakli neighbourhood. The workshop aimed to use art as an informal and playful trigger for conversation and exchange with Kaimakli’s rooftops in the background.

The building is constructed with the typical yellow limestone of Nicosia and its attached to the Old Municipal Market which now hosts CYENS centre of Excellence.

The rooftop is not used currently but has a great potential considering its location
