         <description><![CDATA[<p>The field of drug and nutrient interactions is important and is growing as research is discovering new ways to optimize drug tolerance in the body. The field of nutrigenomics along with pharmacogenomics had endless potential as well to supply us with knowledge about how the interaction between nutrition and genes as well the interaction between drugs and genes can impact overall health. Based on the material we have covered in class, I would like to see the the topic of how SNP's and their involvement in genetic variation may affect an individuals tolerance to pharmacotherapy. Similarly,  I would like to see more research on pharmacokinetics, the bodies actions on a drug, and how nutritional factors may impact this. After the pandemic, several research studies about COVID-19 and comorbidities have come to light, and it would be interesting to see how individuals infected with COVID-19 who also are immunocompromised may react to certain pharmacotherapies. </p>]]></description>

         <title>Future Directions</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The research into nutrition and pharmacology is beginning to take a more tailored approach. In other words, I think we'll start seeing the implementation of more individualized nutrition and pharmacological treatments based on genomic information. Right now the research is indicating that this is the way to go, but as far as implementing on a large scale goes, this seems like a more daunting task. I think that a major topic that should be researched is the feasibility of this implementation, which may not be a strictly scientific or medical topic but something that is equally as important. I think it would also be good to look more into the connection between circadian rhythms and the gut microbiome and how to tailor these two things for treatment of disease states.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>I think that nutrigenomics and pharmacogenomics hold immense potential in shaping the future of medicine and health. We talk about personalized care in healthcare, and I believe more research in these areas would open the pathway to true personalized care. This would allow for more precise treatment plans that is tailored to a patient’s unique genetic makeup to ultimately improve health outcomes.</p>]]></description>
