      <description>We all face the ultimate teacher challenge- underperforming students in the classroom. This could be for a variety of reasons: lack of interest, personal issues, low efficacy, reading below grade level, etc.  I would like to work with teachers on how to engage disengaged learners, specifically within the context of classic literary pieces.  I want to show them a variety of tech. tools that work to marry classic lit. and modern pedagogy, in order to increase student interest, and increase student access.  I&#39;d like to target all levels of tech. proficiency.</description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The transcendentalists in American lit have historically been very difficult and dry for my students. I've done a close read of specific sections followed by an infographic project in which students researched concepts valued in transcendentalist writing (environmentalism, civil disobedience, etc.)  It helps make the classics relevant. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Flipgrid is great for giving students a voice in the classroom when responding to classic literature. If students are working toward writing an argument that uses textual evidence at the end of a novel, the teacher can strategically set up guideposts throughout the unit so that students are storing related textual evidence on a grid.  This will make it much easier (and more fun) for students to review their evidence and make choices about the best pieces to use in the final essay.  English learners and below grade level readers can listen to other students discussing the book as many times as they need to before starting the performance task or essay. </div>]]></description>
