Read the article, “How Much for That Tree? $35 in Harlem, or $135 in SoHo”. This article is a classic example of factors that affect supply and demand.
What are some factors that are affecting the people supplying Christmas trees to the people of New York?
Comment on the price demanded due to different demographics. How much do you think people will pay for Christmas trees? Why?

In the poorer neighbourhood, there are less people wanting the trees and they will not pay as much for them. in order for the supplier to make the most money, they must appeal to the different groups of people. they are able to sell more at a lower price to poorer neighbourhood and they can up the price for the rich neighbourhood because they know that they don't really care how much it is.

1) That the price of the Christmas trees are going up every year. There will also be a high demand for christmas trees which means that they christmas trees may run out of stock. 2) There is a higher price of christmas trees in SoHo because they can afford to pay it for it. while the Harlem is not as wealthy so they are more willing to look around to find a better deal.

The factors affecting the people supplying christmas trees is that their are less evergreens so big box stores are trying to out bid small vendors so they can sell them and get a larger income. It also costs money to rent places to sell trees. The population of different areas could also affect it.
2) Because there are less trees the prices are going up and people will obviously by them because its christmas regardless of the price. Some people only have 35 dollars to spend on a tree so dependant on the neighbourhood the price will be affected. However in wealthier areas they can sell trees for more as people likely wouldn't even care about the cost.

Factors that could affect the suppliers of the Christmas trees are having on the people of New York is that by using marketing tactics they are able to convince the costumer to buy their tree before they're sold out.
2. The higher the demand for trees the more people are willing to pay. That's why the ones in soho are more expensive than the ones in Harlem.
I believe that people would prefer to pay a cheaper price as they use it for s month and it gets thrown out but depending on the family and their social class would prefer a nicer tree making it more expensive.
