ESSAY 2

First, the author observed one gallery in which he felt welcomed, because there were people explaining to its visitors about the Art. Therefore, he felt an insider. However, when he went to another gallery, located on the other floor of the same building, he felt the opposite. The reason why is that the people responsible for that place were not very interested to help or to show any piece of art. Consequently, he felt like an outsider.

The author changes his opinion on outsiders and insiders. When he arrived at the Game Lab he first did not feel like an outsider because the two students that were already there were sitting alone and the Game Lab only allowed the game students to go in. but after the group of 4 showed up, he felt himself was an outsider, because it amplifies the fact that you are alone and that you are an outcast. When everyone quiet down, he suddenly didn’t feel like an outsider. Because everyone was now in the same zone. Compared with juniors and seniors who have created more bonds and connections. But freshman’s like himself hasn’t had as many opportunities to form those bonds, making them feel like outsider way more often. Overall, he always feels more like an insider than an outsider, because of everyone’s passion for games, it is much easier to be an insider than an outsider.

The author shows people can be both insider and outsider at same time in some situations. For example, he feels he is a insider because he is an art lover, part of the whole community, and people are nice to him. He feels he is a outsider because he just a visitor in the gallery.
