Comprehensive School Counseling Program- A program designed to help students succeed in academics, personally, socially, and within their careers outside of school. It is essential in eliminated barriers that may deter a student from developing the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in school and in life.

School Counseling Scope of Practice-A school counselor being knowledgeable of effective theories, practices, techniques, and licensing needed to support their students. This is important to know so that counselors are able to better define their role and responsibilities, as well as, identify areas where they need further professional development.

Academic Development-The process of helping students develop mindsets, such as: a positive attitude toward learning. This helps remove barriers to ensure all students have the opportunity to achieve their academic goals.

Career Development-The process of helping students develop skills, explore an occupation, or choose an educational program that will lead to further advancement. This helps students find purpose beyond post secondary education.

Social/Emotional Development-The process of helping students develop skills to manage their emotions, build relationships, and make good decisions. This helps improve social behavior, supports academic performance, and reduces problematic behavioral patterns.

ASCA Mindset and Behaviors-A set of standards that describe the knowledge skills, and attitudes students need to succeed academically, socially, and emotions. This serves as a guideline to help track and achieve student success.

ASCA Ethical Standards for School Counselors-A guide for the ethical practices of all school counselors. This clarifies professional norms, values, and beliefs.

ASCA School Counselor Professional Standards and Competencies-Standards that describe the knowledge, attitude, and skills school counselors need to implement a school counseling program. This provides a framework for ensuring all school counselors possess the knowledge and skills needed to effectively address the needs of their student population.

School Counseling Direct Services-In person interactions between students and the school counselor. These help counselors build person rapport with students, and allows counselors' to see physical cues from the student.

School Counseling Indirect Services-Services that are provided on behalf of the student as a result of the student counselors' interactions with others. These help to counselors collaborate with other stakeholders to better assist the student.

Program Assessment is used to determine the value and effectiveness of a school program so that the proper improvements can be made. This ensures accountability, improves the program by helping students grow and progress, while also helps make informed decisions about the programs future.

Annual Results Reports-A document evaluates he effectiveness of a school counseling program and informs decisions to improve it. Includes: program goals, interventions, and student outcomes.

School Counselor Assessment and Appraisal-A report that evaluates a school counselor's performance, and demonstrates the counselors's impact on student success. This shows the counselor's performance and targets future goals for the program.
