1. In this picture, you can see the witness and the attorney. The attorney is asking questions to the witness to prove something which can help for the investigation of her suspect. It can make the jury think that this suspect isn’t suppose to be in jail so maybe the other one deserves it. So basically, the attorneys call witnesses to prove a point and to manipulate the jury to vote “Not Guilty” for their suspect. In Steve’s case, this is what’s happening. Both attorneys are trying to get proofs to make think to the jury that their suspect is not guilty. Then, the jury, based on the interrogation, the testimony and with all of the proofs the attorneys stated, they decide by vote who’s guilty and who’s not guilty. Sometimes, they make the right decision, sometimes they don’t. But in Steve’s case, they made the right decision.

3. Text to world: on Christmas Day 2017, a father killed his two daughters and he was accused of murdering. Berry, the father, had testified that he owed thousand of dollars to a loan shark and that he was attacked in his appartement by a dark haired man on the day of his daughter’s deaths. He had pleaded not guilty to two counts of second-degree-murder in the stabbing deaths of a four-year-old and a six-year-old. Berry’s testimony was like the plot from a bad low-budget movie. He wouldn’t accept his responsibility and there was no Paul or dark-skinned child murderer. Berry was lying the whole time. No one was believing him. He was arrested and was voted Guilty. I relate this to Steve Harmon’s story because Ms. Petrocelli was doing everything to win the trial and protect his suspect, James King, but by the end with all of the proofs, it was obvious that Steve wouldn’t do something like that and King was the type of person who does things like this. So then, King was voted Guilty.
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/andrew-berry-murder-trial-crown-closing-arguments-1.5292522

Ms. Dorothy Moore was being interrogated. It was King’s cousin. They weren’t that close, they saw each other twice a month. The day of the murder, King went to her house and gave her a lamp. But at the trial, she said that the lamp broke and she doesn’t have it anymore. The second witness was Mr Nipping, who has known Mr.King for 17 years, from his neighborhood. So, Mr.King was left-handed because Nipping remembers buying him a baseball glove and he had to give it back because King was left-handed. Mr. Briggs wanted to know that because the wound was on the left side of the body which might mean that the shooter is right-handed. Then, after the investigation, Ms. O’Brien told Steve to take the stand because if they put King on the stand, he’s gonna get himself in a bad position because Bobo said that they were close. So now, Steve has the advantage to take the stand and prove his innocence. To prepare him, O’Brien played a little game with him to prepare him fro the interrogation. The trial went really well. Steve answered the questions like O’Brien taught him and his answers were firm and confident. He said that they were all acquaintances. Then, it was Mr. Sawicki’s turn, Steve’s teacher, to be asked questions. He really liked Steve and he showed that tremendously during the trial. Then, the jury had chosen their verdict: Steve Harmon was “Not Guilty”. His parents were very happy and Steve had a little smile on his face which you can tell, he was happy!
