Steps to building and collaboration between TL's and staff

1. Make sure that you have introduced yourself to all the staff each year at the beginning. I know at our school there has been a lot of turnover and the new people may not know what your role is at the school.
2. Draw students and teachers into the library with quality collections and media programs that help with the learning and teaching process. (Canter, 2011)
3. Create a mutually respectful bond between the librarian and the staff. By working on shared projects and collaborating so that each persons job is a little easier.(Canter, 2011)
4. Remain involved in all aspects of the school community, such as school committees and extra curricular items so that they see you as a TL but also a member of the staff. (Diggs, 2011)
5. To promote collaboration we need to see the library space as the hub of the school not as our own personal space. These need to be community spaces where all types of learning happen not just books. (Diggs, 2011)

1. You can't do it alone: All great leaders have follower. Thew best work for a library is accomplished as a team.
2. You need to say say thank you and appreciation for the people around you because it will motivate others to help.
3. Delegate and Empower Others on the Team: Everyone needs a job on the team so they feel like their are motivated but they also need to be empowered so that they want to contribute to the betterment of the library.
4. We need to continue to Learn: As librarians we need to be active learners, seeking out new Pro-D, and listening to ideas about how to learn in this digital age.
5. Decision makers: whither it be with choosing new books and technology for the library or how the space will be set up. We are always having to think about problems and solve them.
