Problem Solving Cycle

Problem solving is something we have touched on in this module and it is vital. A lot of us do this on a daily but we don't even realize or think about it. In education we have so many different situations we have to use this method on everyday so its always good to refresh. Also we have talked a lot in this class about collaboration and communication, problem solving can be a large part of that. We do this with lots of other people such as administration, fellow teachers, parents, and students. Not only do we do this on a daily basis but we have to teach our students how to do this. Sometimes this can be challenging because we have done it so much its automatic. Thinking about the process on a deeper level can help us better teach our students how to problem solve as well.

Diversity and Culture

As we have worked through our reading in this class a large topic has been and continues to be diversity and culture. We continue this focus because it is such a detrimental part of education. This can be anything from our students culture, our culture or the culture we create in our classrooms. All of these play a part in a child's learning. The reason I have chosen to inlcude this photo is because I can sometimes forget just how many different things create culture and diversity. I always remember the obvious ones like race, ethnicity, religion, gender however I forget some of the others. I am hoping if you are like me this photo helps you to remember all the components that create Culture and Diversity because of how important they are in education.

Parent Involvment

I chose parent involvement not only because it is apart of this class and the content we are learning but because I am so passionate about it. As we have learned in class parent involvement can have a detrimental impact on a child's education. When you have parents involvement at different leveles its going to affect the learning environment. There are both different levels and locations we can see this involvement. We can see parent who aren't involved at all, just enough, as well as to much. We also see people who are more hands on with in classroom help or more hands on with helping their students at home. All these variations affect how easy or difficult it can be to provide a student with the best education.

LRE

LRE or Least Restrictive Environment is one of the fundamental parts of special education. From the beginning, anyone who has learned anything about or worked with special education has heard this term at some point. This is why I have chosen to include this in my assignment. There are many different things this can look like. We can see this in the general education classroom, the special education classroom, or some combination of the two. It is the job of the IEP team to decide what this looks like for each child to ensure their needs are being met the best possible. If you look at the image above you can see a few other setting that can be a part of LRE.

MTSS

Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) is a framework that helps educators provide academic and behavioral strategies for students with various needs. It includes so many different aspects that are vital to education. A few are included in the photo ubove but there are more. When we think about MTSS the reason it is so important is because it encompasses the individual needs of students. I know like most of you who have large class sizes it can be hard to make sure we meet the needs of every student but this system is a key part of ensuring we succeed in meeting those individual needs. Not only this but when we are looking at special education specifically there is an entire IEP team to help ensure an individual students need are being met.
