When the Nazis invaded his country in 1939, they forced the Jews to live in isolation.
 
Due to the harsh conditions during the war, Frank rode his bicycle to save his family. He also avoided wearing the Star of David armband.
 
When he learned that the Jews in Kamionka would be relocated to a nearby Ghetto, Frank decided to stay in a wooded area outside of town.
 
 
He then persuaded the men to form a defense unit. After a German attack on their camp killed eighty Jews, they left the area to hide with sympathetic farmers.
