This furnace is shared by our community. My hometown is in southern China, where many traditional customs still prevail. For instance, on the first day of the New Year, we use it to burn joss paper for our ancestors, seeking their blessings for good fortune in the coming year. "Chu Shi Biao" is a memorial to Emperor Liu Shan, written by Zhuge Liang, the great chancellor of the Shu Han state in the Three Kingdoms period. In this letter, Zhuge Liang expresses his deep sense of duty and loyalty to the later Emperor Liu Bei, who had entrusted to him with care over the state. He recalls the efforts he has made to stabilize the southern regions and to give the northward expeditions the necessary impetus towards reunification of China. Zhuge Liang presses on him the need for internal harmony among his court officials and advises that, as emperors must maintain themselves diligently, virtuously, and attentive to the advice of capable ministers, careful administration must not be led into carelessness by the onset of peace and result in favoritism. Zhuge Liang's heartfelt plea reflects his unwavering commitment to the state's prosperity and the fulfillment of Liu Bei's vision.

Although this letter was a suggestion to the emperor, it was actually a godfather's love for his child, because Zhuge Liang wrote it before he went to war, and he knew that he might not be able to return from this war. From the letter, I can see Zhuge Liang's worry and concern for Liu Chan, which is the love of an elder for his child.
