As early as 1871, the Plains Indigenous people expressed interest in negotiating a treaty with the Crown, this would protect them from the settlers outside their land. Not only were they concerned for the land but also concerned about starvation from the diminishing supply from bison.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>This poster encouraged young boys in WWI to serve Canada by taking over farm work previously done by men now gone off to war. It encouraged boys with receiving a national badge of honour for those who work, with more information in local newspapers.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Helen Armstrong led a general strike in Winnipeg, May 1919. She advocated for gender equality and better working conditions. While the strike was being led she also opened up a cafe that allowed three free meals for women who were also on strike, and encouraged men to pay or to make a donation.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>June 6 1944, there were invasions on the Normandy beach of France that were being occupied by Nazi Germany. At the end of August the allies reached the Seine River, the Germans had been removed from northwestern France, ending the Battle of Normandy. The allied forces then prepared for Germany, where they would meet with Soviet troops moving in from the east.</p>]]></description>

This was great for the economy as many other Canadians and people from the United States would travel to Montreal for liquor. This led to major organized crime groups.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>1930's experienced the worst drought in 300 years. Thousands of farmers abandon their land, with dust storms occurring destroying crops that had been previously planted. "Fairway crested wheat grass" developed in Ottawa which could handle the drought.</p>]]></description>
