Positive psychology section (p 4/5)

Not coming from a background of psychology, I found this section particularly useful. Drawing on a lot of the same references that were shared by Wendy in lecture 2, it offers a clear overview of what positive psychology is and how it can be related to leadership within an educational organisation.

"student subjective sense of preparedness..."

I think this is a really interesting observation in the conclusion of the article. I would like to look further into how the impact of positive psychology can be measured. Taking into account the subjective nature of attitudes and responses by staff members, can you, as a leader, be confident that your strategies and actions are effective and working as you intend them to?

Considering different views

In preparation for the assignment, this article is very helpful at demonstrating ways to link positive psychology with identified approaches to leadership-authentic and transactional. It also draws on existing research and views while offering a new perspective. The article identifies that flow and leadership have not been studied together and there is potential for further research here.

Recognising that "flow may act as a moderator of positive leadership in certain instances" will be an important finding for leaders to be aware of, should they be looking to implement positive leadership within their organisation.

Positive Organisational Behaviour (POB)

The article considers 2 studies in order to test the hypothesis on "the impact that the selected positive psychological resource capacities of hope, optimism, and resilience have on desired work-related employee outcomes".

Positive Organisational Behaviour (POB) and Positive Organisational Scholarship (POS) are referred to early on, with POB being explored in depth throughout the article.

Data linked to the identified studies are included which are insightful. However, I welcomed the narrative explanations that accompanied the tables and figures. I struggled, at times to interpret these and appreciate what they were showing me.
