I want to be a special education teacher more than anything. I want to find multiple mentors who ideally have experience as teachers, as well as leaders in special education. I want to be surrounded by multiple mentors in order to see all the different sides there are to teaching and learn how people from different backgrounds reached their goals. I want to feel comfortable in a group setting with my mentors where discussion is open and encouraged. I also want to be able to shadow my mentors and watch them be the leaders they are!

Tip 2: Bring Out The Best In Yourself

Bringing out the best in myself starts with knowing what my BEST really is. After some self reflection as well as asking those close to me, we have come up with some of my 'best' qualities being:
- I never give up on people
- I have a super open mind
- I only ever have good intentions
- I work hard and get things done
- I am optimistic almost always
- I am overall a good communicator
- I always appreciate the little things
With my goal of being an educator in mind, all of these qualities are great to have in the classroom, especially with the diversity in learners when it comes to special education. Bringing out the best in myself, will only help me bring out the best in the children I am educating!

Tip 3: Build Your Self Esteem

Self esteem is such a huge aspect to emotional success (aka happiness for me), which leads to physical success! In terms of success as an educator, if I have self esteem and know how to practice self esteem, I can reach my goals as well as teach my students how to reach theirs! Self esteem comes from self acceptance and respect. At the end of the day the person I want to make the most proud of me, is me! I can build my self esteem by showing kindness and encouragement to myself as well as forgiveness. Being able to implement these practices in my own life will help me teach my students the importance of self esteem and how they can implement it into their own lives at a young age. I want my students to feel like they are always capable of being their own superheroes!

Tip 4: Chart Your Life

Charting my life is a bit harder for me to really think about and wrap my head around. My passions, goals and mission are all similar in that I really just want to be happy, and comfortable or content in my day to day life. With happiness comes passion, and my passion plays out with me being an educator and working with children. Long term goal wise, I just want to be content and feel grateful for the life I have led. I want to be able to take a deep breath, and appreciate the life around me. I want to embody this mission and show the importance of charting out life with these goals in mind to my students and even their parents. I will be working with students with disabilities who may have a harder time reaching specific goals, but I want to be sure with having realistic life goals, such as simplicity and being content, they are not discouraged with this notion.

I am a big believer that most of the time, luck has close to nothing to do with it, when it comes to reaching goals that is! With my goal of being a teacher in mind, I want to be sure to create my own opportunities. I can not wait around for opportunities to fall in my lap. I want to make connections with mentors early on, and make a good impression. I want to be present in the field I want to work in so that I feel comfortable and confident in the various settings that will lead me. I will never be scared to ask mentors questions, and make my presence known. I will be prepared and ready for any opportunity I find, I will be willing to do the work, and I will never be afraid of failure because that just means I have been able to learn even more. Overall, I will show up.

Investing in planning really just comes from investing TIME. I want to invest time into researching HOW to get to my goals, as well as taking the steps necessary to follow that plan. I want to finish my degree, get into a credentials program, begin student teaching, and gain enough experience to find an establishment I want to live out my career in! Investing time into planning for myself, will lead to a growth in success in my overall goals.

The only way to move forward from one phase of life to the next is to make a change. I want to be sure to make changes that push me forward and launch me into action. To explore my passion as an educator, I will have to make aa change that leads my path in that direction. I want to change the way I spend my free time. I want to invest more time in planning. I want to change my overwhelming fear of failure. I want to change my life's trajectory towards success in my goals and passions. I want to keep going.

Tip 8: Motivate Yourself Using Loss Aversion

Loss aversion is a very motivating concept for me already in life, but I can use it even more to reach my goals in education. I have seen far too often, people giving up on dreams and goals simply from not holding on to what they already have tight enough. I want to take my experience and positive connections I have already made in the education and special education fields and apply them to my resume to try to find slightly better jobs. I want to take my associates degree and make it into a bachelors that I can get an even better job with. I do not want to lose the progress I have made in any way. I do not want my past successes to be a loss, or meaningless. I want to push forward and hold on tight.
