         <title>Prophet</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In the beginning of the Graphic Novel, on page 6, Marjane states that she wants to be a prophet so that people will be treated as equals, so that no one would suffer, and because her parents were high class. In the beginning of the novel you can tell that Marjane is very close to God, she constantly talks to him. As Marjane gets older she starts pulling away from God, on page 70, when Marjane finds out that the government executes her uncle she gets mad at God and tells him to get out and she never really talks to him ever again.</div>]]></description>

         <title>&quot;I don&#39;t know everything&quot;</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>When we were younger we did not know much of the world but we often thought were knew everything there is to know. When Marjane's father goes out to take photos of people demonstrating, on page 29-33, he does not come back for a while and she starts to worry. When Marjane's father returns she tells them about a widow whose husband dies from cancer but everyone around says he is a martyr, the widow then starts to protest with them. Marjane's parents find this funny but she does not understand why they are laughing. At this point, Marjane realizes that she has a lot to learn.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Social Class </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>When Marjane starts to read more, she comes across an author named Ali Ashraf Darvishian who tells stories about the Reza and how he used to be a porter. Marjane then realizes why she is ashamed to ride in her dad's car, it is because of social classes. Before reading Darvishian's books she did not really notice the social classes.  When Marjane's maid likes a boy, Marjane writes letter for her, when Marjane's father finds out he tells the boy that she is a maid and Marjane then sees that social class is a big thing and she does not like it.(pages 33-37)</div>]]></description>

         <title>Growing Up</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>As Marjane gets older she starts rebelling, she is not taking school serious anymore(page 95-98). When Marjane goes skipping with some of her older friends she gets caught and has a fight with her mother. To show that she is not a little kid anymore Marjane steals a cigarette from her uncle and she smokes it, for her, it was a sign of growing up. (page 11-117)</div>]]></description>

         <title>Goodbye</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>When Marjane is getting ready to leave at the end of the book the reader can tell that Marjane has grown up a lot. At the beginning of the last chapter, Marjane starts to act different, she says that nothing scares her anymore. Marjane punches the principal at her school and gets expelled which leads to her leaving because her mom is scared that the government will end up killing her, so her mom ends up sending her away to Austria. At this point Marjane's sees that things are dangerous and that she can not act like a kid but wants to be treated like an adult, it is a part of growing up and facing the consequence, her mom is sending her away for her own good.&nbsp;(pages 143-153)</div>]]></description>
