I have incorporated the dimensions of Haurora with worksheets followed by share pair and discuss.

This was extended with activities that associate with each wall such as Pepeha with understanding your roots.

Active learning to ensure more engagement. Whilst most activities have worksheets. Students need to upload into pad-let or screen share their work. Sometimes individual tasks are also apt such as task on puberty.

Share pair and think also effective to get students engaged and contributing

Challenge for boys to discuss puberty. I have learnt to seperate both genders so that lessons can allow easier communication amongst themselves at to the coach.

Getting students to write and draw also assisted with learning, especially to those that were not vocal about this topic.

One challenge I had was trying to figure out how much was 'too much' information for puberty. It felt like the learners came in not knowing anything at all so was hesitant to go to deep when doing a deep dive.

I would love for there to be some opportunity to see our Hauora classes more than once a week. I know that there are timetabling constraints - but sometimes having a whole week between each session makes it difficult for learners to make connections and build upon the previous week

New learners coming into the space, its difficult for them to integrate but also you have created a safe space with the others and an "outsider" coming in disrupts the way we work, meaning we need to tailor back to then push ford in a new direction and culture of the class

In my experience, students were more engaged when coaches share their experiences of what they have been through/seen. Students understand that its not something far but information they need to learn.

Learning about the learners first, using the first Term to understand where they come from, their backgrounds, their values and beliefs etc. By having this knowledge about our learners, I have been able design learning that caters to and is sensitive to their beliefs and culture for certain learners through differentiation.

Challenge is getting through the content in 1 lesson per week - and also trying to "catch up" those learners that might miss one or two lessons. Deciding what is a MUST and what would be nice to get through if there is time.
