This concept explores the integration of traditional Malaysian woven patterns into a home furnishing product. Traditional weaving crafts such as rattan or bamboo weaving contain unique geometric motifs that represent local cultural identity and craftsmanship. The design focuses on creating a functional furnishing product for home interiors, where the woven patterns can be translated into the structure or surface of the product. Natural materials such as bamboo or rattan are considered to maintain sustainability and authenticity. The function of the product is to enhance the comfort and atmosphere of living spaces, while also serving as a decorative element that reflects Malaysian cultural heritage. By combining traditional weaving techniques with contemporary design, the product aims to bring cultural value into modern homes.

This research focuses on the integration of traditional Sashimono joinery with modular minimalism to develop a high-performance, multi-material furniture system that eliminates the need for permanent fasteners like nails or glue. By synthesizing the precision of Japanese wood-to-wood interlocking logic with modern materials including CNC-milled metals and 3D-printed plastics the study aims to create a "kit-of-parts" framework that enhances structural versatility and user-driven reconfigurability. Ultimately, the project seeks to bridge the gap between heritage craftsmanship and contemporary industrial manufacturing, offering a sustainable, circular design solution where components can be easily repaired, upgraded, or recycled at the end of their life cycle.
