Teachingislyfe https://padlet.com/teachingislyfe/sft3335roy8/wish/130884882 Using Bill Brooks' idea of having sections on board, not feeling well, have questions, have announcement. maybe instead of having them write names (depending on grade), there can just be magnetized names/numbers that the students can put under respective categories and then this can be discussed during Morning Meeting.
    Also helps teacher to know if a student will be leaving early to make sure that homework will be ready to go instead of trying to put everything the student needs together in that moment he/she is called to the office.

    **Also once students are done facilitating discussion, the have a teacher time or teacher topic, maybe having to do with social issues, like, yesterday, I overheard someone say that people who asked for help were wimps. Saying it's not to point fingers, but to bring everyone's attention to this because I think a lot of people think this way. But I think knowing when you need help and asking the right person for help actually makes you strong and smart, not a wimp!

    OR instead of discussing, give a quip about it and then have students do opinion writing or something in their journals as morning work. Can incorporate paired discussions with sentence starters (booklet) like Terry gave us.

    I might want to try using different vocabulary like “It’s so considerate how so and so is doing…” “It’s so responsible how so and so is…” “It’s so respectful how so and so put his pencil down and looked up at me when I asked.” (not “I like how so and so put his pencil down and looked up at me”), plus it puts language into their minds. Finding that many of my 2nd grade kids don’t know how to characterize people, how to describe and define people by using characteristic words.
