How leaders are elected

There are elections in north korea they happen every five years. The supreme leader is never elected. The supreme leader only changes when he dies and then the next person in the bloodline falls in to the commander spot. The elections that do happen have people from 687 constituencies to vote in representative deputies. The people voted in will serve on the supreme people assembly otherwise known as the the country's first legislative branch. when they are elected in they will be in office or on the government for the next five years. There is no secrecy when voting they have booths but it doesn't hide anything. when you vote you only have one option , someone fro m your district chosen by the democratic front of reunification of the fatherland. voting no or not voting at all is a act of treason you must vote. when all the voting is done Kim jong un does all the deciding alongside him in the presidium. The presidium is a small group of senior officials.
Sources: www.theatlantic.com
www.economist.com
