Do you want to have every student engaged? I think the answer from all of us is a big ol' YES! Nothing feels worse (in our teaching career) than when you see students bored and not engaged in the lesson. Well, VR and AR can change all of that.

I teach Read 180 and have a lot of students with IEP's and 504's (specifically ADHD), and would love to have some virtual reality headsets to limit distractions. With these headsets, students are forced to interact with their reading by excluding all else around them. Companies, like Microsoft, have developed tools for using their virtual reality headsets through a built-in virtual application called Immersive Reader.

Also, I was reading an article about a professor who totally mimicked his classroom during virtual learning, and I thought, "Oh, how cool. I would love to do this!" He built a virtual 3D version of his classroom and used several platforms, like Mozilla Hubs, AltspaceVR for hosting 3D classrooms. How much better would that be than just a plain ol' Google Meet or Zoom session?
VR and AR can transform teaching and learning. There are so many AMAZING things you can do, with the right tools and applications. I, for one, can not wait until we get some of these super cool tools!

BCIs are systems that allow humans to control or communicate with technology using only the electrical signals in the brains or muscles. Basically, they connect the brain to external technologies.

The current AI achievements, reinforced learning using neuronal signals along with the BCI technologies can provide a better understanding of a student’s brain functioning, and also use individual indicators when constructing adaptive immersion computer environments for successful personalized learning. The use of neural-control interfaces, which are being actively developed nowadays, has the potential to bring personalized learning to a new level, thereby enhancing the quality and efficiency of the learning process and making it more enjoyable, to significantly improve traditional approaches to adaptive learning.

BCIs have their pros and cons. Pros are that we can personalize learning; we can use these BCIs to assist students with impairments- such as visual or auditory, and much more. The CONS are mostly with security. If BCIs can read our minds, how are certain things protected? Definitely, something to think about.
