This plan was created by the founder of the Golden Dawn, Nikolaos Michaloliakos, in 1980, with the creation of Chrysi Avgi magazine. Nikolaos was arrested many times for politically motivated offences. Whilst in prison, he met with the leaders of the Greek Military Junta, and they created the foundations of the Golden Dawn.
- Throughout the Golden Dawn's existence, there has been many allegations that they had connections to the Greek police. In 1998 there were multiple interviews involving Georgios Romaios, a Minister for Public Order, were he stated there could be 'fascist elements in the Hellenic police.' as well as claim there was a pro-facist group within the police force. In 2012, Nils Muižnieks, apart of the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights, claimed that he had collected strong evidence of ties between the police and the party. 
- In 2013, Pavlos Fyssas was stabbed and left to die by Giorgos Roupakias, a member of the Golden Dawn. Shortly after this occured, Roupakias calmly waited for the police to arrive. Once they did arrived, he told them 'Don’t give me away, I’m one of you,' the police replied 'What do you mean, are you police?' and he replied 'No, I am Golden Dawn.'

When in power, Metaxas' party took inspiration from fascist Italy and presided a conservative, anti-communist government.
- While there are early examples of Dictators apart of the Golden Dawn in power of Greece, there are much less example in the more modern era of the party. The Golden Dawn rose to its highest point of power in the 21st century was during Greece's economic crisis, gaining 7% of the vote and 18 parliamentary seats in 2012.

- The Golden Dawn denies official connection to neo-nazism, even though they use the Nazi salute used by Italian fascist and German Nazi movements, and the Golden Dawn symbol have very close resemblance to the swastika. In an article written in the Golden Dawn magazine titled 'Hitler for 1,000 years' the editor shows his support for white supremacy and Nazism. 'We are the faithful soldiers of the National Socialist idea and nothing else" and "[...] WE EXIST, and continue the battle, the battle for the final victory of our race"
- Shortly after the Golden Dawn Party badly lost the 2019 European Parliament election, where they lost 18 seats in the Hellenic Parliament and only won 4.88% of the vote and won only 2 seats, Nikolaos Michaloliakos released a statement saying "We send a message to enemies and friends. The Golden Dawn is not over. The struggle for nationalism continues."

- A nationalist ideology typified by strong leadership, stress on collective identity and the use of violence or warfare to further the interests of the state. The term derives from the Italian 'fascio' - an ancient Roman symbol of authority, literally a bundle of sticks tied together with an axe, suggesting unit or a 'mobile' ancient execution tool - first applied to Mussolini's regime in Italy, where 'fascio' was used as a symbol of strength/unity. 
- Junta - a military or political group that rules a country after taking power by force.
Big Idea: The Fascist concept of the State is all embracing; outside of it no human or spiritual values can exist, much less have value.
Cow Theory: You have two cows, the government takes them both and sells you the milk.
