In this week finalising this project, the class, tutors & I have revised our work across the task, in order to fill any gaps & manage resubmission work. This has meant revising the four formal elements of an image, practicing our photoshop skills as well as learning new ones.

This week I have created, editied & chosen my four final images. In doing so I have taken record of these decisions, predominantly using adobe photoshop contact sheets. The focal point of this weeks activities has been to present our work to the tutors & to the class, in order to do so I have generated & refind a Microsoft PowerPoint. The power point displays, reviews & explains the methodology of my work.

This week I presented my work to some members of the class & 1 on 1 to Mrs.munteen. I presented my work on screen via the adobe PowerPoint I had made during the earlier portion of the week. I also gave an informative explanation of what was being seen on the screen, using pre-arranged bullet pointed revision cards.

In future I would like to present my work to the entire class. I struggled with my presentation as it was designed to be presented to a larger audience. I was unable to present my work to its intended audience for disciplinary purposes, there for in future I will avoid the need for this action & ensure I understand my audience.

As a challenging week passes I am offered no relief, this weekend I face correcting both my past work & this evening I will be finalising my contact sheet for my final images. I found the week now passing particularly challenging as not only was the quality / quantity of work required increased, but I have also suffered at the hands of lesser organised peers.
This week I have learnt to create a contact sheet on Photoshop. A contact sheet is similar to A Padllet wall, It is a means to which we can display our images. Whats different about a contact sheet is we are able to save it as a jpeg file; this means we can print it as an images allowing us to easily compare images.

I began to capture a variety of images this week using my four main formal elements. For the majority I captured my images during my study time on a Tuesday. As part of this weeks activities Carl & Cliff allowed me to take time off site, this allowed me to capture / retake images that did not render to the expected standard.

Under the keen instruction of my tutors I have begun to create a power point presentation, this is where I will display the images I have captured. I will be presenting my work & the thesis behind it as a part of next weeks lessons.

This week much of my work has been lost by fault of another student. Although He is to blame it is my responsibility to ensure the safe delivery of my work. In future I will actively take responsibility for rendering my own images / videos.

Yet another week has passed upon my level 2 media course at Harlow college. They say "time flies when you're having fun" I suppose I must be really engaging with the work then. Admittedly I have found this week somewhat tedious, as this week we have studied the necessary protocols preliminary to a photo shoot. As part of this week's activities my peers & I have had the opportunity to revise shoot protocol, legal permissions as well as health & safety checks.

Classes this week have predominantly been lecture based. In anticipation of our final photography shoots. The class & I, under the guidance of Mr.Anderson, have taken this week as an opportunity to complete the necessary documentation required for our "final four images".

Before we planned our "four final images" the class was asked to produce 4 mind maps outlining our ideas. This provided us an opportunity to brainstorm ideas in a clear & accessible format. Our mind maps enabled us to represent our knowledge of both the "four formal elements of an image", as well as variables effecting a photo shoot.

Based on not the work produced but the duration in which they we're produced; in future I will need to be more self motivated when performing written work. I will remember to do so by setting my self timed targets for which to finish articles of work by. It has also become apparent to me through group activity, that I should aim to be less self conscious in the class room environment. I have found that my personal anxieties have taken up much of time this week, which may have been reflected in the quality of work I have produced.

Coming into this week I was confident in my ability to do the work, this was as I have previous experience with DSLR cameras as well as photoshop light room. This week I have learnt how to effectively use a range of photography as well as videography equipment. I have learnt that there is more than just one type of tripod, each with a different purpose. For example A photography tripod is used in order to control the variables of an image. It does this by maintaining a stable position. Alternatively the filming tripod is designed to move whilst maintaining the camera's position. We also studied 30 tools In the adobe photoshop programme tools & how to use them effectively.

This week we wer're required to produce a set of materials in order to best display the knowledge our tutors had bestowed upon us. To do so we produced a series of short films. This required us to book equipment, space & practice the overall use of equipment when filming. To produce the short films to the best of our ability, we practiced the use of studio lighting, tripods & DSLR cameras

As part of this weeks activities we were asked to demonstrate the skills we had researched in photoshop. I did so by creating a padlet wall where I demonstrated my use of tools such as the lasso tool. https://padlet.com/cubokoli/yoxyjbwdwvnq
We were also required to produce three shorts films demonstrating the proper use of a DSLR camera & displaying how to effectively use a tripod.

In future I would produce the short films earlier in the week / process. We produced our short films on day 4/5. This resulted in allot of pressure between our selves as peers to be successful. We also caused some concern amongst our tutors as to our work ethic / ability to complete the work.

In this week the class was asked to replicate 4 of the images

That we found inspiring focusing upon the 4 main elements

Of an image. So that we may display this our tutor carl taught

Us how to use adobe spark. This is internet based platform that

Allows a user to post videos, photos & creative media in blog

Format. To complete the task & upload the images onto adobe

Spark carl instructed me as to how I can export images in the

Correct format to be read by adobe systems.

As afford mentioned this weeks task was to replicate 4 images.

The images I had chosen were all in uncontrolled environments.

This meant using my study days to source objects & scenes

Similar to those seen in my selection of images. Once I had shot

the images, I picked the top 4 images from each shoot. I posted

Them to my adobe spark page & began to review the work I had

Produced beneath each post. Taking my independent assessment

Into consideration, I made a second attempt at replicating my

Chosen images. Again once I had chosen the best images from

All four of my reshoots, I posted them to my adobe spark page &

Made an independent assessment.

This week when selecting my image to produce, I noticed a common error

In all of the images I had captured from 1 shoot. In future I will take more

Consideration as to the set up of the equipment. I will also ensure to capture

A wider variety of images per shoot.

Week 1 11/09/17 task 1 4 formal elements study (unit 1, 1.1 & 1.2)

The 4 formal elements are; line, texture, colour & shape. From my previous experiences I was already aware of colour & line. However this week alongside discovering texture & shape I was able to make a more in depth look at these elements. This week I have learnt about blending & contrast with regards to colour. I have also learnt that line can be used to draw a viewer to the focus of the image as well as compliment it. During this task I also learnt how to use padlet to a proficient standard. I was able to use this new skill to document my work in a more organised & accessible way (as seen in the image provided). I displayed my work in column format using the padlet system. I was careful to resource the photos insuring that I gave credit where due to the websites & social media platform users to which I obtained content via. In future I need to improve my independent learning, I have found in my past experience that I work best individually whilst within a group environment. This week in my independent study I've often been disturbed by students of other courses approaching me. I really I'd like to continue my independent study in communal areas as not to be segregated. I will assume these disturbances are as I am new, moving forward I will asses wether I need to find a workspace. I have also noticed that in the class room environment I Struggling to contain my excitement, I am easily led by my emotions to push forward with the work, which may result in mistakes.
