They did this to show that they were not happy with taxes put on the tea. in 1773 the government passed the tea act . which meant that the colonist could only buy the British tea which was cheap but with tax people could barley pay for it 16 months later the Revolution began.

 The next act is The Impartial Administration of Justice Act. This act meant if a colonist committed a crime the royal governor could move the trails to another colony or to England if he wanted to.
 The next act is the Massachusetts Bay Regulating Act. This act made all law officers subject to appointment by the royal governor and banned all town meetings that didn't have approval of the royal governor.
