There are many people in the word who are still living without electricty. Many of them rely on dangerouse, polluting kerosene lamps for light. So, some country decide to improve thier    poor electrcity supplys system. They invited solar power system. However this was so expensive to buy, and it can not use when the weather is bad.

Gravity light is one of the recent appropriate technologies that allowed people to have access to light without electricity. 
It consists of the main body that creates light, spring, and some plastic pockets. 
This innovative invention functions with the power of gravity. First, one has to fill the bag with 9~12kg amount of soil or water and hangs it to one end of the spring or string. Due to gravity and the weight of the bag, the bag will start to get pulled down and the potential energy changes to kinetic energy. At that moment,  the connected pully moves the belt inside the machine, which moves the gear which later triggers the motor and creating a bright light for the family.

Although before this invention people in developing countries did create light through oil lamps, it was dangerous and could create fire incidents, breathing troubles, and emit carbon dioxide into the air. Research shows that there are over 150 cases of incidents related to oil lamps in a year in Africa. However, thanks to this new invention, now many households can have access to free and eco-friendly lights, and children can have more time studying during the night. This invention could also free many families from fuel poverty, since they can save much money by not buying expensive oil lamps, and their money won't be needed to be spent on doctors and nurses for breathing problems. Therefore, in many aspects, from the environment to education and people's basic rights, gravity light can solve many families' problems.

Although there are no specific flaws in this invention, I think if I have the opportunity to change some things in this invention, I'd like to make this machine produce light for a longer amount of time. Due to gravity, when one end with a heavy weight gets pulled down the pully in the main body triggers certain gears to produce light. However, once the spring stops, the machine will no longer produce light. Therefore, for one family to have light for a ling time, they have to have longer spring ot install this invention higher, or constantly have to pull up the weight over and over again. This process could be pretty inconvenient, so I hope they could find some sort of alternative solution.

The reason why I thought that this invention was innovative was that thanks to this invention, today many families from developing countries can have light after the sunsets. The Moser Lamps also provided light, however, they were limited for after the sun sets, the lamps were not able to give any more light to the families. On the other hand, Gravity light overcomes that problem and helps families to have access to light even after the world has gone dark. 
 Like that, the appropriate technology helps people's lives in many other ways. Therefore, I think it is necessary for companies and the government to aid these designers so that they could freely create life-changing technology for everyone

And the light using gravity was amazing. Because I've thought about solar power, but it's the first time I've heard of using gravity. 
 The reasonwhy gravity light was an innovative invention was that solar-powered light, which was invented to replace electricity that had not been supplied regularly, but it was also had many problems, such as price, however gravity light solved all of them. It is cheap, safe and easy to use. This was very helpful and useful for many people.
