Well, my mom does, anyway. The night before Thanksgiving, my siblings and I prepare the ham, and after the ham is prepped, the overnight process begins. My mom glazes and injects the ham with her sweet secret sauce for hours all night. The house always smells so good. I get to wake and smell the ham, and it puts a smile on my face every year. Bright and early, the rest of the food that needs to be cooked gets prepared. First, we usually start by cutting up lots of onions and peeling a big bowl of garlic. After that, we could move on to the rest of the food items like turkey, mac and cheese, or Cornish hens. My favorite is the greens. We always prepare the sweet potato pie last. Every year we make the same food, but my mom loves to switch her cheeses for the mac and cheese. She has tried Gouda, Brie, Gruyère, and a few others that I do not know the name of right now. Even though the food is always the best, the thing that makes our Thanksgiving day Thanksgiving is the Christmas music my mom plays. While we bond, laugh, and make a mess, we create lots of memories. Thanksgiving is really special to me; it is my favorite holiday. I am happy I got to share something with you. I would love to read one of your traditions.

What u need for chicken katsu is chicken breast, eggs, flour, panko bread crumbs. What u do first is make sure that your chicken is deboned, then u will coat with flour then eggs then panko. After that u can fry it in heated oil, it should be done when it's golden brown. It's soooo good. like super good. And it's even better if u eat it with rice, my family is from Hawaii so we eat everything with rice, lol, but yea. Throughout this Pandemic, I have come to realize that tomorrow is a hope, not a guarantee. Even before everything got so intense, I lived my life like I was isolated. All the things in my life that seemed bad at the time looks so small to me now. I grew from my mistakes and learned how to deal with them when things got hard. Although I have lost people, I have learned to love the ones I have now more than ever and to never take the people in your life for granted, no matter how much they may tick you off from time to time. I am thankful for the loved ones in my life and the new ones in the my future.

My great grandparents were this cute little Pilipino couple who never stopped working. My grandfather at age 93-94 was constantly working out in his living room trying to stay active while my grandmother cooked. During dinner, my great grandma, mom, and my grandma bickered about the proper way to play mahjong (a fun tile game my family likes to play) and my great grandfather would talk to my dad about his time serving as a mail carrier around the time of the war. I remember afterwards I would offer to do the dishes but my great grandma would insist on doing it and lightly slap me away from the sink. This is the usual thing that occurs during the holidays but I must say it is very memorable to see my nearly 90 year old great grandmother with a strong Pilipino accent smack me away from the kitchen without realizing she hits hard.
