This was countered by northerners when they introduce the northern territory, Maine into the union as a free state. This would raise tensions to civil war by showing how both sides feared the opposing regions having more Free or Slave States over them. This would also initially set Sectionalism because it is the first time the Northern States directly go against slavery.

While Northern states suffered less because of their Industrial economies, southern plantation owners who rely on imports were mostly effected by this. The Protective Tariffs of 1832 and 1828 escalated tensions between North and South to Civil War because this raised prices on southerners mostly. This from the southerners point of view it wasn't fair to do without southern interests being recognized.

This would be a primary cause to the civil war because it shows the Southern and Northern States how bloody and violent the an action between Southern and Northern states. this was shown by the many raids and riots that happened in the Kansas territory.

The Nullification Crisis bring the nation more to Civil War because this creates more sectionalism between Southern and Northern States. The reason why it creates Sectionalism is because of the difference of economies and how the economies of the Southern States were Plantation based and the Northern States were industrial based.

His Sons were killed by militia, While John Brown was hung December 2 1859. This caused tensions to rise in the south because of the violence displayed by an abolitionist.
