We chose to write about "Their Eyes Were Watching God." The story follows a middle aged woman named Janie Crawford who finds love. However her grandmother, a former slave, is struggling to accept their relationship and suggestes an older farmer instead. Janie is stuck with the older farmer but she doesn't actually love him and he actually is very discriminative. The farmer wants power over Janie and has specific ideas of the roles each of them should play in the relationship. The theme explored in this story is "mislove" and inequality.
