Even thought I have always thought the children created their own designs, this showed me that they didn't all the time. It really made me think and look at the possibilities of their creativity if I didn't draw the picture for them to copy. I know now that I shouldn't do it anymore, but I also know that it will take some time to me to stop doing it. The reason this will be the hardest is because I believe using coloring pages helps children with fine motor skills with the respect of teaching them how to color within the lines. Also, coloring with the children shows them that with practice, their coloring skills will improve. It would also be a transition where the kids wouldn't understand why they can't use the coloring books, so we must start explaining that they can make their own art and let them know that they don't need the coloring books so that They can discover, experiment, and use their own imagination, achieving new experiences and helping them in the cognitive, physical, socioemotional and language areas.

This would be hardest for me because I teach a VPK only class where the children only come for 3 hours a day. I am on a pretty set/strict schedule. As of now my schedule gives me 20 min for "art time" and I am required to do art with all the class as a whole. After being in this course and learning all I have it has opened my eyes quite a bit. I do plan on meeting with my director over the summer to redo my schedule so I can offer the children a better way to do their creative experiences. It will be interesting to see the difference between this years class and the new class come August. As a teacher I would be all about making memories for students to later enjoy. Throwing them away to me would be like taking away from them. For an example the coloring book may be something they really enjoy doing and taking it away from them could be a memory that they have now loss. During the day children do many things: like playing, drawing, dancing, eating even until they sleep, there is a daily routine, children are always doing an activity with the purpose of learning. Teachers in an effort for children to learn and look for the best activity for them without us realizing it, we end up making repetitive models. In the mornings, the ABC is generally sung, the days of the week, the months of the year, the colors consecutively until the children memorize them without understanding what it really means, it falls into monotony, causing them to lose interest. Without us realizing it, we continue with a traditionalist model where the teacher transmits knowledge and the child is the receiver and we do not let them develop their creativity and imagination. The teacher must be able to be open to change and sensitive to the children's experiences; take refresher courses so as not to fall into a routine. You have to do a self-analysis of what is being done with the children and see if that is working or not, to change strategies.

When I see my students working on an assignment in class and notice that they are not following the instructions, I get a little nervous and what to help them do their best giving them some insight and better understanding of what's being ask of them to do. Knowing that the students are being creative and expressing themselves in their artwork or writings.  Have faith in your own efforts and the creative attempts of the children. I will have trouble with it because I am hard on myself and try to do things to the best of my ability. I don't like to do things halfway. I might have some trust issues, so I wonder if the children are being as creative as possible. I suggest adding some incentives to make sure they are the best creators they can be.
