Surah Al-Ankabut 2-3

أَحَسِبَ النَّاسُ أَن يُتْرَكُوا أَن يَقُولُوا ءَامَنَا وَهُمْ لَا يُفْتَنُونَ، وَلَقَدْ فَتَنَّا الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ فَلْيَعْلَمَنَّ اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ صَدَقُوا وَلَيَعْلَمَنَّ الْكَذِبِينَ.

Do the people think that they will be left to say, "We believe" and they will not be tried? But We have certainly tried those before them, and Allah will surely make evident those who are truthful, and He will surely make evident those who are false.

2. CLEANSING OUR SOUL

Allah tests us to purify us and wash away our sins.

The Prophet said: "No calamity befalls a Muslim but that Allah expiates some of his sins because of it, even if it were the prick of a thorn." [Bukhari, Muslim).

Always remembering Allah (SWT) is the key to unlocking the heart's potential for joy contentment, peace, and pleasure. A heart that is open and at peace as a result of remembering Allah (SWT) is freed from stress and sorrow. If proper care is not taken to satisfy the soul, it will eventually result in significant anxieties, discontentment, and sadness. True faith in the unity of God must suffice for the soul. Allah Almighty says:

الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَتَطْمَن قُلُوبُهم بذكر الله أَلَا بِذِكْرِ اللَّهِ تَطْمَئِنُّ الْقُلُوبُ .

"Those who have believed and whose hearts are content by the remembrance of Allah. Unquestionably, by the remembrance of Allah hearts are contented." (13:28)

• Refers to the practices and activities we engage in to promote and maintain our physical health and well-being.

• It involves taking care of our bodies through various actions such as exercise, nutrition, hygiene, rest, and preventive healthcare.

2. Emotional Self-Care

• Involves cultivating emotional intelligence, seeking support when needed, and engaging in activities that bring joy and fulfillment.

• Help develop greater self- awareness or to feel better in daily life.

3. Hadith related to self-care

Sayyidah Aisha (RA) reported that Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) emphasised this important aspect of our deen by stating, “Verily, your own self has rights over you, so fast and break your fast, pray and sleep.” (Sunan Abi Dawud)

Fitnah can strain relationships between individuals, families, or communities, as differing opinions or beliefs may lead to misunderstandings and disputes, affecting harmony and unity.

2. Steps to overcome fitnah

• Validate any information received before spreading the information.

• Learn to love others the way we love ourselves in order for us to feel remorse and develop a consciousness to protect the dignity of others regardless if they are friend or foe.

• Motivate ourselves to internalize that fitnah is a form of deception.
