Yo soy Megan Tay y soy de Estados Unidos. Pero, mi etnicidad es Kurdo y Turco. My dad came to America with no intent to stay. He came for education, in a country he had never been to. Surrounded by people who didn’t speak his native language he had to assimilate to fit in.

Our last name, often mispronounced by many, represents to me where my dad came from. And what he brought to my life. From Kazandibi, Sigara Borek, Adana, and Cacik, I grew up eating a wide variety of foods. Both American and Turkish cuisine made up my palette from a young age.
