You see, rubber and road paste stick to each-other which cause friction.
When we want to cause the bike to accelerate or go forward, we peal the disc, also known as the gear. Some bike have multiple gear that cause the difficult to get faster. My bike has 64 speeds. When you press the pedal down with your foot, it cause the bother gears, from and back, to rotate. The back rotating gear is connected to the tire, which in turn causes it to move.

This is because of friction and air resistance. In endurance biking, there are three classes, heavy weight, light weight, and air.
