A blackout poem is actually very loose ended. To start a blackout poem choose some words that stand out and then try to make it all cohesive. It is in a 5,7,5 syllable format, involves nature and describes an experience. This haiku reflects my theme because it begins with someone being sad with the rain representing tears and as as it rains hard (drip drip drop) the rain starts to slow down (pitter pitter patter) and then it becomes sunny. However I incorporated the changing of sides as a representation of how the person both wants the person to come back into their lives but is glad they aren’t in their life anymore.
