There are many ways to increase student engagement in classrooms, and here are some effective strategies that teachers can use:

Create a positive learning environment: A positive learning environment is key to increasing student engagement. Teachers should create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages students to participate and take risks.

Use active learning strategies: Active learning strategies, such as group work, hands-on activities, and games, can help students stay engaged and motivated.

Incorporate technology: Technology can be a powerful tool to increase student engagement. Teachers can use educational apps, interactive whiteboards, and other digital tools to make learning more engaging and interactive.

Use real-world examples: Students are more likely to engage with the material if they can see how it relates to their lives. Teachers can use real-world examples and case studies to make the material more relevant and engaging.

Provide regular feedback: Feedback is essential for student engagement. Teachers should provide regular feedback to students to help them understand their progress and areas for improvement.

Differentiate instruction: Students have different learning needs and styles, and teachers should differentiate instruction to meet those needs. This can include providing different activities or materials for different students, or allowing students to work at their own pace.

Be enthusiastic: Teachers who are enthusiastic about their subject and teaching can help to engage their students. Passion is contagious, and students are more likely to be engaged when their teachers are excited about the material.

Overall, increasing student engagement requires a combination of creating a positive learning environment, using active learning strategies, incorporating technology, using real-world examples, providing regular feedback, differentiating instruction, and being enthusiastic.

Something that helps my kiddos is a five minute brain break. We talk, act silly, and find a YouTube video to dance to. Sometimes kids just need to let go for a minute and reset. Sometimes, this helps them to wake up, too! After we take our brain break, we refocus and get to work. Student engagement and input always increases afterwards.
