Driving After Hours

As people who are taking part in a P1 license you are not allowed to drive with more than one person in the car after 11pm and before 5am. Due to this, you would either need to have another person in the car that has their full license so you can keep going on your journey or find a rest area or some where to stay over night and then keep driving in the morning. If whilst on the road trip you do not want to travel over-night or pay for a place to stay, you could start driving at 5am in the morning as that is when you are allowed to start driving when on the P1 license. As the trip is 10 hours, starting at 5am would get you to your destination by 3pm but that is without breaks.

Taking Breaks

A consideration that needs to be made before going on the trip is if you are going on the trip by yourself, where you will take your breaks so you don’t fall asleep or suffer fatigue. Not taking any breaks during a road trip of 10 hours is not safe and definitely makes your chances of getting yourself into a vehicle accident much higher. You need to find time to take break so you can eat food and get your mind off driving as your eyes would be strained without taking your eyes off the road for a long time. You may end up needing to take a break for toilet stops anyways.

Before you leave on your 10 hour road trip you need to make sure that your car is in perfect condition and has been recently checked as you do not want to have any troubles whilst your on the road.
What to Pack - Essentials

It is essential to carry a First Age Kit with you on every trip as you never know what may happen or when you might need to use the equipment. It is much safer to carry a First Aid Kit with you everywhere rather than not have one when you are in need. Food, especially on long car trips it is necessary to take car food so you can snack on food whenever you become hungry. You may need to take a large amount of food for meals for a 10 hour trip if you are not going to stop on the way so you don't starve yourself. Spare keys in-case of an emergency.
