Hoop Time

Who doesn't like 110 minutes of hardcore basketball and then make it through to the next round. Well that pretty much summed up the day. As we jumped out of the bus you could smell the air scented with excitement of around 50 people urging to hit the wood. As we entered the arena we were sighted with a 360 dunk by a tall basketball player. It was not long until we were playing a team that looked like they had come from the NBA Summer league. We only lost by 3 to the NBA Summer Team stars so it was a solid start. I could go through all 110 minutes of basketball but that would be like a bedtime story.

Anyway the next game was against a team of girls doing VCE, (Well the height suggested so). They were actually in year 6 but one of the girls was big enough to almost knock Lindsay and me over with one push. After another 5 games of wins we headed into the final with tired confidence having to fave the NBA Summer League team in the final, they smashed us in every area of the game nevertheless the most important thing (the score) was only 4 points there way with 30 seconds left.

The roar of around 30 Sandringham Primary Students was enough to convincingly have the home croud advantage and is Elliot splashed a mid-range jumper it was 2 points with 16 seconds left, as we played vigorous press we stole the ball and Nick had a almost 3 point shot but was FOULED. Yep redskinned right on the arm however as the typical umpire we did throughout the day he just stood there and looked. I almost ran straight up to him and grabbed the whistle and blown it and called a foul! The buzzer went the game over and the umpire to blame and as we bundled up for the presentation I thought it would be disappointing.

Listening to St. Christophers name being called out winners was never going to be fun. And my theory was correct damn right annoying buy the massive Maccas Little Arrived, a hoop time rule , unknown till the presentation was that if you lose by less than 4 points you make it through as well!

Chinese Cultural Day

As we lined up in our two lines I could already feel the Chinese cultural day buzz across the 600 people in the hall.

Overall a very confusing day as recess went at 10:00 I was completely disoriented and as we lined up at 10:30 to start our first Chinese class it was the great unknown. The first two sessions were all about dragons and the only thing I learnt for that was that Dragons are near invincible. We learnt a lot about how the 12 months of the zodiac were decided and we all knew who was going to be in the twelfth month, the slowest piece of flobba on the planet....... the pig . The order went a bit like this, Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake,
