Tigers can adapt to different types of environments which range from the Siberian taiga to open grasslands and tropical mangrove swamps in Indochina. Regardless the kind of habitat, Tigers will look for three things in abundance when looking for habitat: Cover, Water, and Prey

When choosing their territory, they will base it on the amount of available prey to help them survive. This will vary for males from a high populated prey area of about 5-150km squared and then between 800-1200km squared. However, this would be a lot lower for females.
To mark their territory they will spray urine or other secretions from certain glands to help leave their scent behind. Another natural behaviour that Tigers do is clawing trees. This is also a way for them to mark their territory.
