The Impact of pandemic on employees and organisations.

The Pandemic has brought a huge change in the working culture of employees and organisations. As a result there have been various changes impacting both. Let's take a look at some of the critical impacts on the employees and organisations.

EMPLOYEES:

The biggest impact as an employee would be the loss of Job due to the pandemic. There are various jobs which are aligned with travelling and communicating with clients directly. Due to the pandemic such jobs are not currently active as a result employee loses their job.

On the other hand, the employees who are able to retain their work during the pandemic are able to work from home which results in less/no travel to the office and can spend more time with their family.

Mental well being is more affected as the employees had to face the trauma caused by the pandemic in their personal lives as well.

As the whole world is virtually connected, the employees can work efficiently by having their meetings and sales calls virtually. But this does not apply for all types of employment.

Conclusion: The employees are going through a difficult phase in their professional life, but every situation throws up great opportunity to survive and flourish. They find a way to live through this and create a new working environment feasible for everyone.

ORGANISATION:

The Organisation had to deal with extremely high losses due to the pandemic. Various organisations which come under the transportation, travel and hospitality sector are either forced to change their strategy or close their business due to the current scenario.

Certain organisations which work using the digital platform are not hard hit due to the pandemic as their work remains online. These organisations are able to generate revenue as they have virtual employees all over the world. The Pandemic has increased virtual recruitment and made the organisation not heavily dependent on the local work force.

Since there is no physical employee engagement required in their offices, the organisation can cut their cost from workspace rentals, air-conditioner charges, parking fees, lunch coupons, travel to other offices and more. This provides great gains to their profit and increases their revenue.

The biggest fear for the organisation due to the pandemic impact would be the loss of customers as the pandemic hits the supply chain of the organisation. They would not be able to get the raw materials on time to finish their product which incurs loss of customers and take a huge blow to their profit.

Conclusion: The Organisation has to change their strategy to march forward in this challenging situation. Various new technologies have emerged to make the work flow sustainable and continuous. Advancement in artificial intelligence and globalisation brings in new opportunities to work and evolve.
