She was outraged by the inequalities that women faced. Stanton made a Declaration of Sentiments, which was used from the Declaration of Independence, hoping for a brighter future for women. On the Declaration of Sentiments, she gave reasons for the unfair ways that they were being treated. 
A women´s rights convention was planned and it was called the Seneca Falls convention placed in New York, and the convention demanded equality for women at work, school,church, and voting. There were many debates at the convention over women´s rights. He started this reform movement when he was chosen to be Secretary of the Massachusetts Board of Education is 1837. He felt that it was important to have an educated citizenry. 
  To help make his decisions,  he had a few principles: Schools should be a free society, they should not set particular religious beliefs, schools should have well-trained professional teachers and a few more. These principles were the main outlines he followed as the Secretary.
