Does this topic need to be resolved?
This article is helpful because it explains the whole situation of the US women footballers when they demanded equal pay to the men because they wanted the women to have the same recognition and support as the men do because they seem like it isn't fair for the women to be treated like that. One stat that I have picked out is that the women's US national team earn 60% less than their male counterparts. This shows that women are too far behind the men at this moment in time and people are doubting if this will ever change in the future.

I will take out the information of what the women feel is necessary to get equal pay and I will comment in my package about the feelings that women have for this issue. I might include a audio clip of some of the US women's team speaking out about equal pay.

Men earn more than women

On average per week, it is true that men earn more than women. For example, Wayne Rooney who plays for Man.United , earns around £300,000 a week whereas an average woman footballer earns about £70,000 a year which is a massive amount of difference and some people are claiming that this should be resolved quickly. In this article to the right, it explains how much money women actually earn and also interviews with certain women footballers about how men are able to gain more money. For example, Man.City women's player Lucy Bronze said that men are always going to earn more and they are never going to reach the heights of men's football which shows that women don't have the confidence to say that women's football will never reach the heights of men's and this means that they have settled for this.

I will use some key facts like the people such as Carlos Tevez and Wayne Rooney earning a ton of money compared to women earning as much as 4th tier players which isn't fair in the women's opinions.

Has the World Cup changed women's football for the good?

For many generations, the men's FIFA World Cup has attracted many audiences and has been one of the best sporting events in the past. However, in 2015, the Women's World Cup changed the way that people watched women's football based on the England team succeeding very far in the tournament which is ironically impossible for the men's national team in some people's eyes. This made more British people tune in to the women's game and this really helped to grow the game and get the attendance higher at games. For the world cup, the prize money for the women was £630,000 and as for the men they earned a grand total of £22m which is a staggering amount in comparison. However this was taken from an unreliable source that I found on the internet and it may not be 100% true.

I will include key facts and statistics that links to this information and I will speak about the Women's World Cup and how it has changed people's opinions on women's football. It attracted male audiences from around the world and especially the England team reaching the Semi-finals in which they gained lots of recognition for.

For my interview, I am hoping to interview Arsenal and England Women's football player Alex Scott because she knows about wages and I think that I can get some very good answers from her. Some questions that I could ask are, In comparison to men, do you think that women are being paid fairly and if so why? Should the wages of men and women be changed based on nowadays events? Has the Women's world cup in 2015 helped women earn more or has it stayed the same? Why do you think that men earn more than women? Alex Scott has played football for a long period of time and she has become one of England's best players. She would know what she is talking about and will understand from her own experiences what the wages are actually like.

BBC Sports presenter

Hopefully I may be able to interview a presenter from BBC Sport because they will know what they are talking about and the interview will be very detailed. Maybe someone like Manish Bhasin or Jacqui Oatley would be ideal because they are very confident and intelligent presenters who I think would make for a very successful interview. I researched what he does and how he helps with my topic for an interview. This would give me a good insight into what these people do on a daily basis and how they got into the position they're in.

I think that the right thing that should be done is that men and women should earn more or less the same amount or most certainly the men's football wages should be decreased because they earn way too much and there is a vast difference between the two genders. This makes the sport look sexist and women are mistreated in football and that's why a few famous women players have spoke up about this and complained which is justified.

This article helps me understand the issues that women have with the wages and how journalists see this by putting it in a article. Many of them disagree with how the wage difference is done and they feel like this should be sorted out immediately. Another factor to this would be TV viewing figures and attendance records because if they don't sell many tickets then the club won't make much money which decreases the popularity in the sport.

I will take the opinions of other people and see if other people think the same thing when it comes to interviews and vox pops. This will make my package more descriptive and detailed because i need opinions and also key facts and statistics.

So far I have interviewed an Everton Ladies Reserve player called Sophie Charlton about women"s wages and it was a short but very interesting and detailed interview. I got this interview through someone who is in my college class as they are friends of Sophie's and this got sorted out quite quickly. For my other interview, I spoke to Chris from the National Football Museum in Manchester and he gave fantastic answers which really helped my radio package. I got this interview through phoning the Museum up and they said i was able to do an interview with a member of staff that was free at that time.
