         <description><![CDATA[<div>- Fueled by the sale of sugar to the United States.<br>- Batista's corrupt leadership led to many problems such as poverty, low capita income, gang problems, US involvement with Batista.<br>- Castro believed that a lot of these problems stemmed from Cuba's involvement with the US.<br>- Castro targeted low income people in order to gain political support.<br>- Castro gained power in 1959 after a group of guerrilla fighters helped him revolt against Batista, who eventually fled Cuba after 7 years of dictatorship. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>- Weimer Republic was in political turmoil, so much so that there were several political parties who were getting in actual arguments and physical fights to determine who would rule Germany.<br>- Germany was also in economic trouble. They had lost 13% of its territory including areas accounting for 16% coal &amp; 48% of iron production. As a result of the Treaty of Versailles, living costs in Germany increased. Hyperinflation caused the German Mark's value to go from 64.8 to a dollar to 4.2 trillion Marks to a dollar in 1923.<br>- The aims of Nazism were Lebenstraum (living space), anti-antisemitism, Darwinism, and essentially making Germany great again. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>- In 1965, the political party ORI turns into the PCC (Communist Party of Cuba).<br>- Castro's relations with the USSR are strengthened, and Cuba's government becomes strict &amp; intolerant of revolts.<br>- Cuba increases taxes on US imports.<br>- Diplomatic ties with the US end due to Cuba's communist tendencies &amp; differences in trade &amp; government (near fuel trade embargo, US freezes Cuban assets).<br>- Bay of Pigs: The CIA attempts to overthrow Fidel Castro, but failed after Cuban military defeats their forces.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>- Nazi party increased representatives in Parliament so Hitler could win election.<br>- The Reichstag fire proved the Weimer Republic was weak, and he convinced Germans he could make their lives better.<br>- Hitler promised Germans jobs, which caued them to trust him because of the severe unemployment rate.<br>- Anyone who opposed the Nazi Party was faced with violence and was "silenced".</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>- Over the next 50 years, Cuba loses around $1.26 trillion due to prohibited trade by the US.<br>- US &amp; Cuba reach an agreement which includes having a US interest section in Cuba &amp; a Cuban interest section in Washington.<br>- Agrarian reform: laws that divided large land &amp; distributed to peasants (This allowed Castro to gain popularity with lower classes). The US was not pleased with this act because it represented communism.</div>]]></description>

As they began to boycott, Jewish businesses began to be shut down.<br>- 1933: German labour front rises in power &amp; replaces trade unions that previously existed.<br>- 1935:Nuremburg laws institutionalized Nazi ideology &amp; antisemitism. German labour service forces males from 18-25 to serve/ work, while women were pushed to work as well in hopes of minimizing unemployment rate.</div>]]></description>
