But the reality is that the way global life is moving, they have to address this challenge. They do have to engage. How do we engage them. We do have to recognise that there are cultural and socio-economic reasons why students may be uncomfortable with video on for example. Flipped classroom for example, less teacher focused, resources available, teacher available for one on one support in a way that is appropriate for the needs of students eg email or comments on work. Encouraging private comments, or putting a comment on the class page so all can see it - but in a way that doesn't prevent them from asking them. We need to  teach students to be self-motivation.

Working off a phone only is difficult for both google meets and google classroom - for marking and feedback. The attendance issues because of some students limited access to technology and internet was the other key issue for me and my teaching. I wish we were more better prepared with IT tools and PD for distance learning I would have more empowered as the teacher.
