    Because Stevie is biracial, she becomes a picked-on child at her school. However, because of her openness and willingness to help, she has children who support her.   
    Family relationship become more complicated towards late middle childhood: grandfather is strict about following Indian heritage; thus, Stevie has fearful attitude towards her strict grandfather. Stevie's mother has secure connection with her and teaches Stevie more about outside world.
