When my parents were still together, my mom would tell me stories about how my father used to serve in the Navy. Even though my father hadn't served in any wars or fights, he had still served for our country.

He retired after 4 years of his service just to be with me, my sister, and my mom again and make more memories and help us with our challenges in life. He fought the terroist war as a bomb radar guy who talks the other soldiers where the bombs are. this happened in kwait. My grandpa was a marine soldier and actually fought a war but I forgot which but I know he was helpful during that traumatizing event

I am a US Army Infantry Officer. My rank is Captain (CPT). My primary job is to command a Company of soldiers (120 soldiers). We fight our nation's enemies through close combat. We close on the enemy wherever they are, make contact, and destroy them. We are the nation's foot soldiers that are always on the frontline. My uncle has served in the Army for like the longest time though I kinda don't know how long but I know he served for years (he retired). He went to Afganistan in the war 2 times and I'm pretty sure he did a lot. My mom still tells stories about him and I think it's cool. He still has injuries from when he fought. Though I don't know that much about the time he served, but I know he did good things.

My grandpa was a veteran, and that's all I know, and he's a life.

My In-law is serving in the Army. She rarely comes home. She has only came home for holidays. My mom and older brother miss her whenever she goes back. We all miss her every single day.

Although I personally don't know much of my grandfathers life, I remember that he lived in Mexico around the time of WW1 and WW2 before coming to the U.S, so although he may have not been a veteran in past experience, he is a veteran in survival through the tough times of famine and war.

My father was a Marine, so that means that veterans day is a sacred day for our family, but not only because of my dad. A man named Angel David Garcia was a Marine then a law enforcement officer as well as a Marine reservationist. He was my fathers best friend. He was killed on December 16th, 2012 while cleaning debris from Interstate 10, El Paso TX. Now, Every year on veterans day my family goes to visit him at the cemetery. It is the only day of the year that I see a sense of vulnerability from my father. Knelt down, hat in his hands, in a moment of silence. When standing there I look around and see other families in the same state of grief, even eleven years later, the pain in my fathers eyes still feels fresh. After we leave, we visit Angels family, like we do every other week and share the stories and memories of him while we laugh as well as commemorate. Even every day, we pass the intersection named after him, we take a moment of silence to keep his memory alive. Even though I only knew him for the first year of my life, my fathers efforts to keep him in our memories has stayed with me for the other twelve.

The past week my neighbors were moving in, both of them are veteran's and everyday I here them excited as the wife had just moved in including when they watched the football game, they were cheering as loud as possible and all I felt was happiness as people that protected our country happy and excited.

My dad didn't really share any stories, but he did tell me this. He told me that him and his friends would play pranks on each other . After that, I don't know if he told me more after, and if he did, I don't remember. He also told me that when he was with my mom, he would like text or something I don't remember. I know this may be bad but I don't really know what to say.

My dad used to be a marine serving our country. Unfortunately, he died in a fight. My mom doesn't like talking about him, so I don't know much about him. He died when I was young, so I don't have many memories about him either

My mother is currently dating a man, and she had told me stories of how he used to be in the Army. With the information that I have right now, he's a wholesome and insecure guy. My mother has told me stories that the man (whose name I will not disclose) has used guns in the past, which allows me to infer that he might of fought in a war. If the relationship does work out, I'm ready to accept him into my life.

My father who saved a man during a war in Iraq from mortar attack in Dec, 18, 2010 is truly a hero in my heart because he had the bravery and kindness to do that. The first discovery I had of this was mind blowing because I was young when he shared this story with me I only got a brief statement of this then later on I looked up his name and there was a news article about it. I am proud of him I really am and this story will live on in my mind until I die.
